Coca-Cola Clothing S/S '13
Coca-Cola has just showcased its latest S/S '13 collection at Rio Fashion Week, continuing to follow in a similar style direction to the F/W '12 collection that I previously made a post on.
Infused with an 80's vibe of bleached denims and a refreshingly fluid cool colour palette of juicy vibrant orange contrasted with softer marshmallow pastel shades. The futuristic space age theme from the F/W '12 is now clearly seen as their trademark design with the assortment of metallic and lacquered looking fabric effects. There is however an introduction of tribal seen in the beaded candy cane Tees and zig zag print trousers. Another bold abstract print in the collection applied to both trouser wear, shirts and outerwear is very alike that of the Paul Smith S/S '12 graphic print trousers that I previously made a post on.
The stand out to the collection is again the outerwear - the play with fabrics cuts, geometric shapes as well as contrasting colour blocking are irresistibly individual, creating a fresh and exciting silhouette for the male physique.
Finally I must not forget to mention the trainers in the collection - like the designs in F/W they add subtle branding graphics and the trademark red-white colour that doesn't scream 'This is Coca-Cola' in the cheap tat form. The twisted lace ends are a witty touch but I would say the F/W '12 range were a lot bolder and more dominant in each look - but I guess the slimmer sole and less chunky design are more in season.
Overall a slightly toned down collection in comparison to F/W '12 (a positive I feel) with it being more relatable to functional everyday wear. Once again a great mix of throwback vs forward-thinking aesthetics - I'm excited to see what the future holds for Coca-Cola on the runway!
