New Found Love // Pigalle FW19

Founded in 2008 by Stephane Ashpool, Pigalle carries a curated selection of sneakers, streetwear, and hard-to-find Japanese brands. Pigalle as a brand portrays a Parisian cool ethos and was named after a former red-light district in Paris. They have expanded their line by collaborating with Nike for a basketball-inspired sportswear range, whilst releasing dual-branded Air Force 1 and Air Raid Silhouettes.

For FW19 the Paris Fashion Week showing consisted of three themes split throughout the Pigalle headquarters. The first, “Hotel Pigalle,” featured loungewear –pyjamas, robes, headscarves, slippers — made with purple silk and monogram patterns.

The second sub-collection was modeled by Ashpool’s basketball team and included powder coloured sweatsuits, kits, varsity jackets and dip-dyed pairs of the Zoom 2K. Some players even sported a selection of shiny accessories designed in collaboration with Porter.

Lastly, a back room played host to a three-hour performance titled Journey of Thoughts, where the “basis for the performance was fabric,” said Ashpool. Here, the models were clad in aquamarine hues with iridescent panels, balanced by a gold leaf backdrop.
