Milan Fashion Week FW14 // Dolce & Gabbana
Holding court this season, Dolce & Gabbana explored a period of conquest, looking to the history of the Norman kings of Sicily from the Norman Kings Ruggero I, Ruggero II, William I, William II, Tancredi, Henry VI, Federico II and Manfredi as well as from the architecture of Norman Sicily as seen in Palermo in the Norman Building, the Cathedral and the Church of the Martorana.
A regal FW14 showing with a continuing recent trend for the label of oversized tops and sweatshirts in enlarged proportions with images of the past royalty and armoured soldiers. Stretching similar images across tailored suits, Dolce & Gabbana committed to the season’s motif, expanding into the architectural-inspired prints before exploring furs and textures of opulence.
Rounding out the collection was simple tailored suiting, double-breasted jackets, pinstripe suits and velvet tuxedo jackets celebrating the Italian fashion house’s signature approach to timeless luxury.
