PAINKILLER Atelier - F/W '13 Lookbook

Titled “Love will keep us alive” the latest F/W '13 collection by Painkiller from Thailand, takes inspiration from the Luc Jacquet’s French documentary “March of the Penguins“. The story depicts  the Emperor penguin’s extraordinary twenty day and twenty night treacherous quest to mate in one of Earth’s remotest harshest locations.

The second source of inspiration for the collection cites Napoleon Bonaparte's dramatic love affair with his first wife Josephine. The phrase “Au destin” was taken from the engravement on the engagement jewellery given to Josephine by Napoleon, featured on his and hers sweatshirts.

Prints are divided into the 2 acts, both inspired by life and love. The penguin prints 'life cycle' depicts the Emperor's story with the use of subdued ice-cool pastilles, whilst the rose print reflects the 'love circe' relationship between man and woman.

The subdued colour palette of the collection consists of designer Siriorn's interpretation of love with the combination of 'hot and cold'  - white, baby-blue, hot-pink, grey and black. Silhouettes are relaxed and loose, with fabrics used accordingly to Napoleon's military life, crisp and clean.

Once again Painkiller showcases a collection of signature styled key staple pieces, full of whimsical, kooky but very wearable designs that can be mixed and matched with ease to create the essential wardrobe for A/W '13.
