GANT Rugger - F/W '12 Lookbook
For Fall Winter 2012 Gant Rugger's latest range provides a workwear influenced collection of smart meets casual - Looks are traditional to the brands signature styling with classic Heritage pieces and the fusion between old meets new.
Stand out pieces include some great bold check tweed blazers, in a slim not skinny tailoring, wintery knits along with impressive accessories, including some irresistable leather gloves which work in perfect contrast to the mix of flannels, wools, denims and canvas fabrics throughout the collection. Most notable is the brands immaculate attention to layering fabric choice, prints and textures variation - flowery scarves add bold accents along with some unexpected colorations - subtle yet eccentric styling and personal detailing that sets the collection apart and makes it memorable.
Surpisingly the latest Gant Rugger collection is inspired by food where a second project - 'Cook GANT Rugger' is set to take place. This holds the beginnings of what will eventually become a cookbook, where designer Christopher Bastin shares some of his favourite recipes and encourages us, the general public, to submit our own. The Fall/Winter 2012 ad campaigns above also features restaurant owners and New York food scene luminaries Phil Winser and Ben Towill of The Fat Radish in NYC and Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk.
The GANT Rugger Fall/Winter 2012 collection is intimately connected to the world of food. To me, food and fashion has a lot in common. Closest to any good restaurateur’s heart is the wellbeing of his guests and the minute attention to detail. At GANT Rugger we care just as much about the feel, look and fit of our clothes as any good chef does about his fresh produce and keeping his mise en place in order. I’m far from a professional cook, but I’m a passionate one. In the coming weeks I will share with you my very own recipes on a few classic dishes, food I have cooked over and over thru the years to perfection (according to myself, that is). If you have the audacity to think you can do it better, I challenge you to share your own take on the same classics. If you impress me your dish will be included in our GANT Rugger cookbook that will be released later this year. Good luck friend, you’re gonna need it!
