Gucci - S/S '13

Frida Giannini chose a delicious colour palette for SS 13 to perfection. The fabulous summer fruits colours in the shades of soft greens, deep oranges, raspberry reds and royal blues as well as white and black tones, which surprisingly didn't overpower the brighter looks, could only be defined as a 'joyous summer spectacle'.

Tailoring was structured in a boxier more casually slim fit as oppose to the super slim silhouettes we have been used to seeing from the Italian house in the past. A sorbet green suit introduced the collection and was worn by 'model of the now' Clement Chabernaud, who has also been featured in Zara's latest Lookbook. The detailing of wider lapels was also notable - but my particular favourites were the double-breasted variations which I felt added that extra pop of contrast with the white buttons against the vivid colour choices, especially on the banana yellow look.

Between the smart tailored suits was  patent fitted jackets, relaxed sweatshirts, mesh polo's and lightweight knitted jumpers and cardigans - all accented with a classic illustrative floral silk print featured on scarves and shirts. These were also introduced through to the trousers as well as the 'collection must' bomber jacket which we have seen in almost every other collection this season. Each look was paired with the classic footwear staple: the Gucci loafer with horsebit detail - no socks of course!

Gucci has kept their classy style through both structured and loosely fitted garments with the elements of patterned prints as well as touches of fresh colours - even down to the colourful array of loafers featured in the black looks. Overall the brand has presented a collection which flowed harmoniously from one look to another, with the perfect essence of fun whilst retaining the timeless classic look that we so love from Gucci.

'Wish List' item for me personally would be the royal blue symmetry print silk sweatshirt with quarter length sleeve that moulds the male physique impeccably...shame I don't have the muscles to fill it out!
